The Gallery – Food (or possibly the world’s most expensive ice creams)
This post is this weeks entry for The Gallery over at Sticky Fingers
The prompt this week is Food. Now this is a subject close to my heart as I certainly love my food, the trouble being I don’t exactly have many photographs of it. It doesn’t tend to hang around long enough for pictures. Although just as I was starting to despair, I remembered a photo taken on our honeymoon back in 2007.
We were in Rome, and after a lovely meal and a couple of bottles of vino we were sat at the bottom of the Spanish Steps when we decided we fancied an ice cream. Just a small one, a very small one and so off we went to the nearest ice cream shop and ordered 2 small cones of simple ice cream. Of course the staff in the shop conveniently didn’t understand our simple request and we were presented with monstrously huge concoctions with pretty much everything except fireworks in them and for the priviledge of being misunderstood we were charged the oh so reasonable price of 25 Euros! Eeek! Of course once you are presented with a big ice cream you can hardly say no I didn’t order that (well maybe you can but me and the husband are far to wussy to do that).
Anyway this photo was taken by my rather tipsy husband, of a rather tipsy me holding the worlds most expensive ice creams. We were too busy crying with laughter to bother with photo quality but you get the general idea
The Gallery – A Smile
This post is this weeks entry for The Gallery over at Sticky Fingers
The prompt this week is A Smile. Now I could post one of a thousand photos of MissB smiling away but I decided instead to opt for a photo that although not the best quality in the world, it makes me smile everytime I look at it.
I give you…bored, bored, bored
The Gallery – Back To School
This post is this weeks entry for The Gallery over at Sticky Fingers
The prompt this week is Back To School! Now with MissB only being 9 months old I’ve not got any kiddies going back to school just yet but I do have a husband. My husband is a teacher (well ok he is a lot more than that but you don’t need to know ALL the details
) and yesterday saw his return to work after 6 weeks off. It’s been a busy 6 weeks with us visiting my sister Sonia whilst she had her new baby, visiting friends in Oldham, having 3 weeks of hell with teething where MissB sprouted all 4 top teeth at once with much pain, fever, sickness etc and to top it off I’ve been feeling rough myself so having my husband around to help out has been an absolute god send. It’s kind of sad now not having him around especially as MissB has chosen this week to pull herself up to standing in the playpen and I’ve been busy texting progress photos to hubby at work.
So in honour of hubby going back to school, my photo this week is this:
It is of course MissB and Daddy enjoying looking at the various water sculptures at Alnwick Garden on one of the days that we did manage to get out and enjoy the school holidays
The Gallery – A Photo I’m Proud Of!
This post is this weeks entry for The Gallery over at Sticky Fingers
The prompt this week is “A Photo to be Proud of” and here it is:
It was taken by me on my bog standard digital camera and it’s not the most amazing quality but I love it and it’s the favourite photo I’ve taken of MissB myself
The Gallery – Memories
This post is this weeks entry for The Gallery over at Sticky Fingers
The prompt this week is Memories, this is a tough one for me as how on earth do I choose a photo which can sum up a lot of memories. I posted a while back for a writing workshop entry on childhood memories HERE so I thought I’d steer clear of that era this week and go back to another time in my life. A time only about 4 years ago when I was in a new relationship, yet to be engaged, married or a mum. Just one half of a new and exciting relationship. We lived down in Yorkshire back then, me in Hull and my now husband in York. I remember one lovely sunny day we went on a day out to Castle Howard just for a change of scenery. It was a lovely sunny day and love was in the air. We had a picnic with us and sat on the grass by the lakes eating strawberries and sandwiches without a care in the world. It was a lovely day and I’ve found this photo which I think pretty much shows me as a young, happy and carefree woman enjoying loves first blossoms
The Gallery – Playtime
This post is this weeks entry for The Gallery over at Sticky Fingers
The prompt this week is Playtime, once more this prompt left me a little stumped as there are not many action photos of MissB playing as I’m usually down there on the floor with her but I did find this photo taken by my husband the other day when we were out in the garden. It’s not the best quality I’m afraid but it will have to do for this weeks entry
I just loved the way the colour of the grass, the sky and her clothes all seem really really bright
The Gallery – Nature
This post is this weeks entry for The Gallery over at Sticky Fingers
The prompt this week is Nature and having thought long and hard about it, I’m going to cheat a little this week as the photographs were taken of MissB and myself by my sister Sonia – you can see more of the photos HERE but I’ve had visitors this week and I’ve not had much time to put this post together. I hope you enjoy them anyway
Nature
A seed is planted in the earth and slowly starts to grow, slowly at first and then gathering pace. You can’t see it but you know it’s there. Growing on a daily basis, in the dark, safe and protected. A miracle of nature…
After a long time developing from that little seed, the seedling eventually bursts out into the light, to soak up the love and light which will help it to continue to grow…
With lots of loving care, feeding and careful monitoring, the seedling grows from strength to strength. Basking in the light, at last they open their petals to the sun, and their true flowering beauty is revealed.
The 1st photo was taken when I was 36 weeks pregnant, the 2nd when MissB was 10 days old and the 3rd when MissB was almost 6 months old

The Gallery – It’s a Novel Idea
This post is this weeks entry for The Gallery over at Sticky Fingers
The prompt this week is “It’s a Novel Idea” and we have to choose photos which represent a novel or childrens story. At first this got me really thinking but then I realised it’s actually not as hard as I thought and the ideas came flooding in. So this week I’m presenting you with 5 photographs – can you guess which book each photo represents?
Book 1 – ok so this is an easy one to start you off
Book 2 – a bit more difficult but still a childrens book
Book 3 – Also a childrens book
OK and this is where it gets even harder
Book 4 – an adults book also made into a tv series
and finally Book 5 also an adults book
And seeing as I’m feeling in a particularly good this mood I’ve decided I will send a small prize of a chocolate nature to the either the first person to get all the answers right or gets most of them right
The Gallery – Can You See What It Is Yet?
This post is this weeks entry for The Gallery over at Sticky Fingers
The prompt this week is Can You See What It Is Yet? and basically involves taking a photo of an everyday object from a different angle. So here is my photo for you all to puzzle over – no clues as I think it should be easy enough to work this one out
OK so one small clue – the item is located in my kitchen
Answer will be revealed when I feel you’ve all given up guessing lol
The Gallery – Holidays
This post is this weeks entry for The Gallery over at Sticky Fingers. The theme for this week is holidays.
Now this prompt really got me thinking, should I go for a photo of my year living and working in Australia before I went to uni, should I post a photo of family holidays with my parents and family, should I post a photo of my honeymoon…choices, choices, choices.
In the end I opted for this photograph:
This photo was taken in 2006, about 6 months after I met my husband and it was on this holiday he proposed to me. We went to Lindos in Rhodes and late one evening we went for a walk up to the Acropolis in the dark and up there he dropped down on one knee and proposed. I said yes and almost 4 years later here we are, married with a baby. I look at this photo and it’s like looking at another person, I look so much younger there and so full of life – compared to how I feel at the minute having had a lot of sleepless nights over the last 7 months.
The only holiday we’ve had since then has been our honeymoon and since then we’ve been so busy moving house twice, both of us starting new jobs, being pregnant and having a baby – that holidays have been kind of neglected
I have a feeling our next holiday will be slightly different with a toddler in tow and it will certainly add a different focus on what we do – but I think I’m ready for one now
